Mendoza Fly Fishing offers wild trout in mountain streams. Perfect for beginners
There is nothing quite like the thrill of coaxing wild brook trout from a high Andean stream, watched by condor and surrounded by snowey peaks. Flyfishing in Mendoza is the perfect opportunity to escape the crowds and enjoy pristine nature in all its glory. Fishing is possible throughout the year but the best months are from September to April. The mountain brooks are 90 minutes drive by 4X4 from the city and are fast flowing mountain creeks in the high sierras.
You will be picked up at 8 am in Mendoza after which we will drive south for until we reach La Carrera, a mountain road which connects Valle de Uco with the foothills of the Andes at an elevation of 2000m above sea level.
The day will be spent fly fishing at an Andean ranch with a private river. We follow the stream by foot for 30 minutes accompanied by your guide who knows the best fly fishing spots. Here the casting technique is very simple and easy to learn. Full instruction is given. It is not unusual for beginners to catch up to 20 trout. Lunch is a riverside asado (Argentine bbq), accompanied by fresh salad, the finest meat and excellent wines. Return to Mendoza at 6pm.
Prices are per person but are based on two people booking a tour.
