Uco Valley wineries offer high altitude wines and stunning architecture

Uco Valley has both altitude and attitude and is certainly one of the most interesting and stunning areas to do a wine tour in Mendoza. Situated in the foothills of the Andes, this new frontier in Argentine winemaking is attracting winemakers from all over the world. State of the art technology and gold medal terroir means the wine from this area is the future of Argentine wine. Guide picks you up between 8.20/8.40 am at your hotel and drive 40 minutes to Familia Blanco, located  on the road dropping down into the valley. This winery is small, modern, family winery focused in the production of Bonarda leaded by the famous winemaker, Giuseppe Franceschini. We continue into the valley and arrive at Bodega Sophenia, a boutique operation that is a hidden gem in the Valley. Here we try their high altitude Malbecs that are becoming increasingly famous. Lunch is at Bodega Domaine Bousquet, located close to the town of Tupungato. This large, French-owned winery has a warm, welcoming restaurant with terrace and commanding views of the Andes and the vineyards. Here we try an exquisite 4-course lunch paired with 4 wines from their premium selection. Return to Mendoza at approx 6.00pm.
