Uco Valley wineries offer high altitude wines and stunning architecture
Uco Valley has both altitude and attitude and is certainly one of the most interesting and stunning areas to do a wine tour in Mendoza. Situated in the foothills of the Andes, this new frontier in Argentine winemaking is attracting winemakers from all over the world. State of the art technology and gold medal terroir means the wine from this area is the future of Argentine wine. Guide picks you up between 8.20/8.40 am at your hotel and drive 40 minutes to Familia Blanco, located on the road dropping down into the valley. This winery is small, modern, family winery focused in the production of Bonarda leaded by the famous winemaker, Giuseppe Franceschini. We continue into the valley and arrive at Bodega Salentein. This ultra-modern winery is famous for its cathedral-like architecture and rich, complex malbec. Here we take a tour of the impressive subterranean barrel room followed by a wine tasting. Lunch is at Bodega Andeluna, located close to the town of Tupungato. This mid-size winery has a warm, welcoming restaurant designed in traditional Old World style. Here we try an exquisite 5-course lunch paired with 5 wines that include the top wine Pasionado. Return to Mendoza at approx 6.00pm.
Please note this is a sample of itinerary. The wineries may change according to the date.
